  • What is apicentr?

    apicentr is a collection of APIs which are easy-to-integrate into your web 2.0 application. Currently, there are 2 APIs that can enhance your application: TextCallr (where a text message can be delivered to a landline or mobile phone as a phone call using Text to Speech) and MediaConvertr (Convert media from one format to a number of other formats with nothing to install on your own server).

    Our platform features can be used over a broad range of applications, including social networking, online video players, real estate and appointment reminders to name a few.

    Additionally, apicentr apps are lightweight, easy to use with no user installation, highly flexible for seamless integration with any website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and APIs as well as highly customisable for your website’s specific needs.

  • What is an API?

    API stands for "Application Programming Interface." Most Web applications are built with a modular architecture; for example, the "front end" web server may access "back-end" modules to get data, to modify a record, or to perform a calculation. When these modules are opened to the outside world through an API, third party developers can use of them as building blocks for their own applications.

    You use the API to help build your web application – you can pick and choose them as needed. Our current APIs offered are: TextCallr and MediaConvertr.

  • How do I get started?

    After you have created an apicentr account, you will be taken to the Projects page where you will see the project that you created when you signed up. Simply click the “Add application” link as necessary to customise your project with various applications available. You will be shown the API key to use for your project once you have created and saved your application.

    You can also customise and delete these applications once they have been created.

  • Where do I find the API key?

    You first need to add an application to your project. To find your API key, simply log in and go to the Projects page and next to your application there should be a string of 36 letters and numbers. You can copy and paste that string to any place where it is asked for by a service you want to use.

  • My API key doesn't work!

    • Try the key again, after a few minutes.
    • Type in the key instead of copying and pasting it.
    • Ensure that your host can make outgoing HTTP requests to apicentr.com. (Many hosts block or firewall outgoing connections.)

  • Projects

  • Does apicentr charge me for TextCallr messages?

    Yes, it costs NZ$0.50¢ per minute for messages sent to either landline or mobile.

  • How do I move an application to another project?

    Within the Projects page, simply click on the “Move” link beside the application that you would like to change. You will then be asked to select the project that you would like to move the application to.

  • Do I need any special software to use apicentr?

    All you need is an Internet connection.

  • What type of output formats can we use for the MediaConvertr Application?

    The types of formats apicentr can convert are FLV, JPG, MP3, 3GP and FFMPEG. You can view all the qualities in the drop list when adding a MediaConvertr application.

  • How long does it take for the key to become available to use?

    The key is made available immediately for you to use, so there is no waiting. You can view the key next to the application on the Projects page.

  • Where can I check how much storage and bandwidth I have used?

    Beside each Project you will see how much storage and bandwidth you have used.

  • What happens if I use more than my allocated storage?

    Your selected apicentr plan includes a specified amount of storage that you can use. To find out how much storage you are allowed and have consumed, simply go your Projects page. You will see the information next to the Project. If you are on a Trial plan, the file will be made available for 24 hours. However, if you are on a Basic plan, we will purge the oldest message to make room for the new one.

  • How long are my messages stored for?

    We will store your messages on our servers until you are no longer a member of apicentr. However, if you are on a capped plan, then we will purge your messages on a FIFO (first in, first out) basis.

  • Billing

  • What are the ways I can pay for apicentr?

    We accept Mastercard, Visa, Bankcard and American Express.

  • What happens if I want to change the credit card that I use to pay for apicentr?

    It’s easy. Go to the Billing page, click on “Billing Preferences” and make the necessary changes there. And remember to save any changes.

  • When and how often will my credit card be charged?

    If you are a fully subscribed member, your credit card will be debited monthly. If you would like to cancel your subscription, you can do so by going to the My Account page.

  • How do I get a tax invoice?

    We will email you a tax invoice every month to the email address you have given us. You can also view this invoice online from the Billing page. The invoices can be downloaded as a pdf file.

  • Are all transactions with apicentr secure?

    All your personal data and any purchases you make on the apicentr website is entirely safe and secure. We use Thawte's 128 bit Security Certificate. It is constantly updated to the latest version. Visit Thawte for more information.

    We will never share your personal information with any third party companies without your prior permission.

  • Are my credit card details safe?

    apicentr uses several utilities and techniques to keep your money and information safe. Your information is submitted on heavily encrypted pages, and cannot be obtained by anyone.

  • How will my transactions appear on my statement?

    All purchases through apicentr will appear as "Aristotle Limited" as this is our merchant account.

  • Who can see may personal details?

    Any information you have entered on the apicentr website is completely private and no one else can see it.

    Your privacy is our responsibility. Please be assured that your data is 100% private. We can guarantee absolute privacy because we use 128 bit encryption technology.

  • Can I change my personal details?

    Once you become a member of apicentr, your personal information is stored in the My Account section of the site. You may access or change your information at any time. These include your first name, last name, email address and password.

  • How do I cancel my apicentr account?

    Simply log into your apicentr account and click on My Account. At the bottom of this page is the “cancel your account” link which will allow you to cancel your account.

  • What will happen to my data if I cancel my apicentr account?

    Any data stored e.g. converted media will be deleted from our servers immediately.
